Key focus/scope
The pilot focuses on people with continuing health care needs, including those who are in receipt of direct payments as part of their care package. This program will provide extremely beneficial and progressive, forward-thinking levels of care. To access the new legal empowerment in such a way as to convert their care plans from care being laid upon them to care plans being devised by themselves. The pilot has the ability to allow the clients to become more engaged their own healthcare than they do now.
Objectives of pilot
The pilot aims to:
- to support people in their own homes and avoid institutional care like residential and nursing homes
- determine whether personal health budgets improve the psychological wellbeing of people, carers and the workforce.
- identify and remove the barriers to take up personal health budgets and to promote a cultural shift toward personalisation.
